Oya graduated from Bond University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2010.
After her admission she was accepted to complete her Barristers Course with Queensland University of Technology. In 2011, she commenced practising as a Barrister in Queensland and was mentored by Ms Kathryn McMillan QC.
Shortly after, Oya decided to relocate to Victoria to be closer to her family and continued her practise there, focusing predominately in Family law.
During her time at the Victorian Bar, Oya successfully ran trials in all Jurisdictions including complex property and children matters. Oya’s legal knowledge and experience extends to other areas of law including Commercial Litigation and Criminal Law.
After a successful (4) four years as a barrister, Oya decided to move to the Gold Coast where she practised as a senior associate and led the family law division.
Oya prides herself on her strong advocacy and negotiations skills.
Oya’s main focus is to obtain the best outcome for her clients and to settle matters in an amicable manner without the need for court intervention.
Oya also shares a passion for sport and served as a judicial member of Football Federation of Victoria, National Rugby League and Football Queensland (Chair). Her role was to judicate disciplinary matters by allowing a fair hearing for all parties before the board.
